The West Highland Railway line runs from Glasgow through to Mallaig. In the last few years it has been voted one of the worlds greatest railway journeys. It is also possible to travel part of the line by steam train. You also get to visit Glenfinnan Viaduct which is now famous for for the Harry Potters films.

Most of these photos were taken from a moving railway carriage and show reasonable results can be obtained with a little effort. the above was taken as we passed Loch Lomond

Some of the views along the line are amazing and you can see why the line is so popular

Between ForthWilliam and Mallaig the West Coast Company run a steam train for most of the summer. Here we see the train leaving Mallaig.

Mallaig is a great place to stay and some of the walks around the town are brilliant with some great views of Skye
