Woolgrass (Scirpus cyperinus)

Woolgrass is actually a sedge that can be found throughout eastern US and Canada. From July to September, numerous little spikelets appear to be covered with wool-like hair, hence its common name. It's an important emergent plant that provides food and cover for wildlife.
