Amazing Arizona.

John Denver - Thank God I'm A Country Boy [youtube.com]

I'm back!

It's been a crazy couple of weeks to say the least. I've been around PB a bit, commenting on as many of your posts' as possible, but now I should be able to keep up full time once again. Here are some select shots from our trip out west to the state of Arizona. We flew into Phoenix, drove to Prescott and then spent some time in Sedona and Flagstaff.

We spent most of the time in Prescott with my uncle, so most of these shots will verify that. Those of you who have followed me for a while know about my hatred towards the sweltering hot Miami weather - and so I give you these shots… Let's just say, I got my share of ‘colder’ weather for week. Just a tease though - as it's back to the 80s here in Miami and I'm sweating while sitting here typing this.

Also, for those wondering, I did bring my GPS Logger, but through all the traveling and moving about, I never really got it working. It does/did work right, but I was a bit lazy about it.

Hope you enjoy and of course have a very Happy New Year! Cheers!

01. The Shining. Well… I thought at least this scene looked like a scene from that wonderful film. This is us driving from Sedona to Flagstaff. The weather was in the teens and the sights were sweet.
Nikon D70s | f/9 | 1/320" | ISO 400 | 40mm

02. Branching Out. A view of the side of a building in downtown Prescott. The snow fell the night before and left this behind to collect.
Nikon D70s | f/8 | 1/250" | ISO 800 | 46mm

03. Mail Time. Yep, the white stuff doesn't even give way to the mail boxes. My uncle has Christmas Tree-like trees on his property. Pretty cool.
Nikon D70s | f/6.3 | 1/160" | ISO 200 | 46mm

04. Snow-mobile. This was our rental car. I guess the company we rented from didn't mind the wear and tear… Too bad, still made for a neat shot.
Nikon D70s | f/8 | 1/250" | ISO 200 | 24mm

05. 80's Punk Rock. Well… Not really, this kid looked right at me when I was snapping shots off around the Flagstaff area. Such a terrific college town.
Nikon D70s | f/11 | 1/500" | ISO 640 | 70mm

06. Prescott National Forrest. That's what the sign says and in this one we were driving towards Sedona just outside of Prescott. Beautiful mountains.
Nikon D70s | f/8 | 1/250" | ISO 200 | 52mm

07. He Might Read Them. If Santa doesn't, some one does I'm sure… This cute little box was just outside the Prescott Courthouse downtown. Very cool area.
Nikon D70s | f/7.1 | 1/200" | ISO 250 | 18mm

08. Any Condition, They Deliver. Wind, Rain, Snow… Whatever. I was outside with the family shooting a bunch of cliche ‘in the snow’ shots and they guy came driving by. He looked at us as if we we're from another planet. Sometimes I think we are.
Nikon D70s | f/7.1 | 1/200" | ISO 200 | 18mm

09. On The Road Again. I believe we were on the way to Sedona in this one. Can't be sure though. More cool mountains though.
Nikon D70s | f/10 | 1/400" | ISO 200 | 34mm

10. Yep, it did snow. Continuing on the cliche shots of us having not seen snow in a few years, it started to just come down one day in the middle of the week. It stuck for about 48 hours and then it was gone. Good times… Not so much for my father's rental car though.
Nikon D70s | f/7.1 | 1/200" | ISO 200 | 18mm

11. Through The Mountains. We we're on our way to Flagstaff and we cut right through a crazy mountain rage where we had to drive very, very close to the side of mountain that crazy high up. This one was near Jerome, AZ; an old mining town that is still inhabited by the brave few. Cool man.

What is all that white stuff you ran into? #5 is a great picture from the street and I love the mountains in #9. I think I would have been delayed because I would have frequently stopped the car to take pictures:)

A Happy New Year to you too! We also dont get to see much snow here so get excited when we see any - although we cant claim temperatures of 80 degrees at other times! I like the letter box to Santa - it looks like its there all year round!
