To The House That Ruth (Tried) to Build: Naniboujou

"Oh, The Places You'll Go!" - Dr. Seuss

In 1929 Babe Ruth and a group of investors (allegedly including gangster, Al Capone) began an ambitious resort on the northern shore of Lake Superior. In 1931 the crash of the stock market also destroyed this project as it ushered in the Great Depression. All that remains is this dining room and a few rooms of the planned resort. This paint is original from 1929 and has never been retouched. Most of the furnishings, including light covers are also original, or exact replicas. The stone fireplace at the head of the room makes a perfect anchor for this Native American inspired decor.

This stop was not on our agenda. A kind couple I met while searching for agate on the shore said we must stop in and see this place. They were right!

Again, all of these pictures are from a Canon sd1100 - before I dropped it :)
