Out of Africa: Bucket List

In 1997 my wife and I packed up our 3 year old and 9 month old sons and moved to South Africa. It would be the best six months of our life. I just returned from Africa and this time my wife and I brought our two youngest along. On a whim we arranged a 16 hour layover in Dubai since we were flying Emerates. Turns out that Emerates will put you up in a hotel and give you meals if you have a long layover in Dubai. I thought my sons greatest desire was to go on a safari. Apparently, Dubai was higher on his bucket list and a trip of a lifetime began with checking off an item from my 18 year old son's bucket list.

Fantastic buildings and shots! My grandson is in the U.S.Navy and enjoyed a few days in Dubai to his delight.

Yeah, you and me both :) My son really loved Dubai and he is a bout to start university as an interior design student. But, Cape Town was the crown jewel of this trip. Those pics are a few days away.

Wow, I have never seen this building in the dark. So it seems it has some sort of digital displays for walls?
Thank you for sharing with us.

Thanks! I am glad you liked the post. I believe the images are projections, but I am not sure. That would be less expensive, although money seems to be of little consequence in Dubai.

According to gulfnews.com there are 70,000 LEDs attached to the building that project light back onto the building. They are linked by over 55,000 meters of cable.
