Fractional budgets are being slashed at SOAS detrimentally affecting the most insecure teaching staff. The union has determined that this will primarily impact female and BAME workers, who are over-represented in casualised roles. Management announced that SOAS will be suspending research leave in 2020/21, using financial grounds as justification and asserting a need to 'reduce salary costs'.
