The Flight of the Blue Heron

by Bryan June. 30, 2013 2039 views

I went back down to Northfield park in the morning on recommendation from my wife, she spotted a blue heron that lived there.

I didn't know how many shots of him I was going to get so I took some farther away and then moved in slowly.

He was watching me carefully, and then he flew away about 20 feet.

I followed him here.

Then he took off clear across the other side of the lake. It started to rain. I was walking that way when a guy walking his dogs got near the bird and they started barking.

He took off again…it worked out for me because I was right on the side of the lake with a clear view of him flying right past me!

The rain drops almost add a motion effect.

Excellent, excellent, you did just I use to do, herons are very shy and fly away in a minute. Love the mood, the colors and mainly the sharpness in these shots. Added 4 and 6 to favs, these birds fascinate me always!
