Food, glorious food!
The pictures above show the things traditionally made for Holi.
Spent a good part of the day making this stuff. Feel a bit sick as tasted everything at least once (not strictly necessary). Must say that photographing food is utter fun.
Not in the pic, strawberry tarts made by P. Unheard of for Holi, but hey, happy-making…

Bakhar-vadi: a savoury.

Dahi-vada: lentil balls, deep-fried, then soaked in lukewarm water. Served with a curd

Karanji/gujiya: a sweet thingie.

Pakodas: hot, savoury fritters. There are not made ahead. I just experimented this morning so as to be sure I'd get them right for tomorrow!

Shakkarpara/shankarpale: sweet

The thingie in no. 1 is interesting. It has an outer foil made (in equal parts) of semolina & gram flour. The filling is a combination of fresh coconut & coriander with a dash of salt. Deep fried & served with curd. It's my most favourite dish.
