Day one of shooting my second short film. I decided to take some pictures as I go along the process to reflect on the challenges faced and consolidate the lessons. Now is the best time to do it, right?)
After watching a series of inspiring interviews of the incredible Annie Leibovitz and glorious cinematography from 'Better Call Saul' which is now on air, I decided to try how much can I do.
I never doubted the power of one camera and a tripod, yet some angles without a clear storyboard become genuinely frustrating... I shoot on an Olympus PEN, which does 4K, but for some reason the recording stops after the first 9 seconds... Did anyone else have that?
Storyboards drawn out for tomorrow... Although you could go without them it makes shooting a lot more efficient and editing a lot more smooth. Last time I forgot to think through the places of the cuts, which always leads to headaches. And yet, play with the angles a little before drawing... there's an incredible amount of funny shots you could come up with on the spot that would of never occurred to you on paper.
