Yay, my new Keto Krate arrived today (that was quick) and it's looking pretty good so far. Please note that there are spoilers below so if you have one on the way, stop here. Also, if you like what you see, it's not too late. I joined mid-October and was still able to receive the October Krate.
The box as opened. Everything was actually covered in paper strips but otherwise as opened.
Here are the items out of the box so they can all be seen better. Luckily I've tried and liked two of these items already so I'm happy with this crate as most of the others also look good.
King Made Jerky, Buffalo Style, is 3 net carbs per 1 oz serving and there are 2 servings in the bag. These can be purchased at KingMadeJerky.com for $8.99 retail. This is likely the only item I won't like due to the flavor, I don't do well with "hot" foods but I will try it at least.
I tried this today and was pleasantly surprised. It had a good flavor, slightly sweet but you could still taste the meat, and was very tender and easy to eat. The heat did become too much for me but I was able to eat several small pieces first and, after something to drink, lessened to a manageable level. The jerky was very good and I will likely try other flavors, especially since it's made right by me in North Texas.
KZ Clean Eating Breakfast Cereal has 4 net carbs for 25 grams, which is 1/10th of the bag. This can be purchased from KZCleanEating.com for $12.99. I'm really excited for this one as it's been a while since I've had anything like cereal; I've seen recipes but haven't yet had the nerve to try. It can also go with yogurt to add some crunch.
I've tried this twice now. It was excellent as a granola added to yogurt and really added a depth to the flavor and some texture. On it's own it has a bit of a cinnamon-vanilla flavor. I also tried it in a bowl of Vanilla Flax Milk and while it was nice to eat something as I would eat cereal, from a bowl with milk, it doesn't completely take the place of cereal. Since it's all nuts it does stay crunchy but not too hard that it'll hurt your teeth to eat it. I had this when my brother was eating real cereal and it did keep me from making a bowl myself. The down side is that each serving is only 1/10th of the package so I had to do two servings to have a decent bowl, which added up to a lot of carbs. In the future, I'll stick to adding it to yogurt.
ChocoPerfection (the info sheet says Dark European but the actual bar says Almond Dark Chocolate) is 3 net carbs for the whole bar. They can be purchased at ChocoPerfection.com for $3.99. These are sweetened and flavored with chicory, which does make them different. I've tried these before, they have multiple flavors, and I did like them. Neither my brother or mother cared for them due to the chicory but it didn't bother me. I purchased a variety pack on Amazon when I tried them.
I had this bar tonight and it was pretty good. I don't really notice any difference in flavor due to the chicory and mostly noticed that it was a lot sweeter, as most of what I have now is a dark chocolate. The texture is also a little different, with it melting in your mouth more like an oil-based fat bomb than normal chocolate. In all, I think it's a great low carb chocolate option and they come in a nice variety of flavors to choose from.
LC Foods Monterey Jack Cheese and Pumpkin Seeds snack mix has 2 net carbs for 1/4 cup, which is half the package. It can be purchased from HoldTheCarbs.com for $2.00. This looks really good and I'm super intrigued by the jack cheese aspect, which I've never had in a snack mix. Honestly, this will likely go to work with me tomorrow. There was a brochure for this company in the box and they sell all kinds of low carb foods, including breads and sweets, so they could be a good resource.
This is quite good. The dried cheese gives it a savory-ness that just the nuts on their own wouldn't have. I will definitely order these again; I've already been on their site and there are multiple flavors, including some with cheddar .
Pili Nuts, Coconut Oil and Himalayan Salt flavor, are 1 net carb for a 1 oz serving, which is about half the bag. They can be purchased for $5.99 from EatPiliNuts.com. I've also already had these before and they are really good, buttery like macadamia nuts and a great flavor. The website will ship for free if you order the sample pack of this and the chili flavor (I don't do hot but the chili was good too, just spicy for me). I already ordered two larger bags of this flavor so I can share with my mom when she comes for Thanksgiving. I highly recommend these, probably the lowest carb "nut" you'll find.
Nuti-Light Hazelnut Milk Chocolate Spread is 2 net carbs for 2 tbs and there are 10 servings in the jar. These can be purchased at NutiLight.com for $8.49. This is a low carb version of Nutella and I am looking forward to trying it. I already have a different brand of low carb "Nutella" so I will definitely have to compare the two.
I've completed a comparison of this and my other brand and this one is definitely better and closer to real Nutella than the brand I bought. I tried them both directly from a spoon and on a tortilla. My other one is "dark" so the flavor is very different while this one was rich and chocolaty. Also, the texture stays good on the shelf, thick but spreadable, while my other one is runny at room temperature and a rock refrigerated.
Below is the info sheet that came with the Krate. It has great information about each of the items and the companies that make them.
