Georgian bakery advertisement

Baker at work. Preparing typical, delicious Georgian bread called puri (pronounced “poo-ree”).

The inside of the well-oven. Traditional ones would have real fire on the bottom; more modern versions have a heating element instead. To bake bread the baker flings a gob of dough against the inside wall of the oven. The dough sticks to the wall and bakes into a delicious, flat loaf.

On the way to Military Highway. Only 1290 kilometers to Tehran, Iran.

At the end of the Military Highway, north of Tbilisi. Behind us is the border with Russia.

DANGEROUS ZONE 1000 M (miles/meters?!!!)

Steve with a fellow biker from Russia that we met at the border.

Steve enjoying three kinds of khinkali (Georgian dumplings). Some with mushrooms, some with minced meat and some with cheese and potatoes. So delicious!!!

Yummy khinkali!

Spinach and walnut appetizer. Shaped like two leaves!
