Hiking up the Giant of Kas, Turkey - December 2018

One beautiful, sunny day in December 2018 we hiked up the steep mountain that lays right behind the town of Kas. The locals call it the Giant of Kas, as it resembles a man laying on his side. We met Joachim, a fellow student at Turkish language classes, early in the morning on the street at the bottom of the mountain.

We begun the hike at a marker for famous Lycian Way (Likya Yolu), the ancient path that stretches for over 500 km along the southwestern coast of Turkey.

About half way up the mountain we found a cave.

The views all along the hike were incredible.

Spectacular views of the densely populated town of Kas, the rather sparsely populated peninsula and Kas marina.

Steve and I decided to climb into the "eye socket" of the Giant. We wanted to see how the world looks like "through his eyes" ;)

Drinks and snacks at Joachim’s rental apartment overlooking the sea were a wonderful way to finish a very active day!
