holy heads/hohlköpfe

i've always been fascinated about the many faces of buddha. these are all taken in the same temple (see my previous post). i guess when you're 2'500 years in the past, people rather have a blurry picture about what you were like, how you really looked. hence, it's amazing how similar buddha portraits often are, how much they depict what people continuously want to see, not what was reality.

don't get me wrong, i think this is absolutely legitible about making pictures of anybody. reality is not realism. in each picture we see, there is at least 50% of what we want to see, thus adding our own layer of perception onto what we rely so much about, is truth. in consequence, truth without our perception is only 50% of the picture… go figure.

p.s. nevermind the title - just a joke i couldn't resist.

I don't know what the reality was about these heads but my perception is that you should have brought one of these as a souvenir instead of the ones next post.
It's nicer and it probably fits better in your suitcase.
And for sure won't make your wife jealous ;)
