according to recent scientific results in psychologogy, every human's character is made on the matrix of a genetic preposition that gives each of us basic emotional, intellectual and behavioral unalterable guidelines. 90% of the remaining variation in us then is being formed in the first 3 years of our life; some things we feel, enjoy or fear are even fixed inside our brains between conception and birth; so you have a good chance to get a tendency for depression when your mother was depressed during her pregnancy.

only 10% are later formed by parents, environment, friends and life.

in these 10%, everything you call “free will” has to be crammed in. all the conscious you can muster. the well thought through decisions. the logic. the love. the understanding. the whole story of our lives: a mere footnote to the program being implemented into our fate.

why the hell do i care.

A rather famous dude from out your way had much to say on the matter. And while he did not have the benefit of the "scientific results" you refer to, I still think he made a lot of sense. Name was Jung. Maybe you've heard of him?
Must confess that I have no recollection of the man in statue. Who is he?
