…and it doesn't have to! :-) i am happy with it just being in my neighborhood, part of my daily walks with the dog, greeted with a fleeting smile when i pass by it on my way to work.
it's not "my tree", it's just the biggest, oldest (and as far as i've heard, governmentally protected), widely respected tree in my urban vicinity. it's an (european) sycamore, one of the most common trees around, and it only grew as big and beautiful because it as had this space been made for it right in the middle of our city park.
i do not love nature. nature truly does not love me. we have a relationship nevertheless that is binding and demanding and mostly fulfilling. i'm not even sure if it is based on mutual respect and understanding (in fact, i doubt it), but it has always been real, always undefined and never been without passion.
i know that nature will win in the end. this tree, over 100 years old, has already seen 3 generation come and go. it will hopefully shake it's branches and spend its shade even in 300 years, when we are long gone and these pictures have evaporated into digital nirvana.
