half moon over pipe stand

I've been dipping into philosophy again. and for some reason or other, it made sense for the first time that there is different layers of understanding life, the universe and everything; that there ISN'T a universal theory that covers the big, the small and the mediocre in between. we're lucky actually that we are able to distinguish and perceive, at will, what plurality the universe has to offer. even in our small backyard provincial corner of it.

and yet, I often wonder if all these different approaches to explain anything from this or that side, do really make any more sense than chicken gawking while they pick bread crumbs from the ground. the enormous feeling of joy when you have, suddenly, arduously, understood some fact of life - how does it stand against the immediate realization that it has opened up a door to a vast space of even more questions? it can be scary to find out about something - because behind every bit of knowledge, there lies an infinite number of unknown mysteries, never to be understood fully.

so, turn out the light. let the moon shine through the window. lay down the pipe and close the book. let your mind wander off into the night - where bigger adventures await you than your wildest dreams ever could cover in your life time.

Put down the pipe regardless! Visit a ward of old men in a Veteran's hospital for a little convincing of what oral cancer will leave you looking like!

True theory, hands down. Thank you for this.
And that first shot belongs on FP.
