No fake news just an old fake

by Sigrid Strohschneider-Laue December. 13, 2017 2137 views

It seemed to be the silver day. As I'm not doing a 365 project, so I don't throw a real silver piece on the "photoblog table", where already nice pictures of nice objects glitter.

This brooch is – again – something I brought home from a flea market. It is all fake – no silver and no gemstone - the only real thing: it looks nice. At least it's an old piece. It's called – and it is not an embarrassing word or plain insult - "Dienstbotenschmuck", which means it was a affordable "jewellery for servants" or costume jewellery. It's a cheaper version of a real jewellery made for the rich upper class. Such pieces closed the blouse high up in front of the throat as I have seen many times on old photographs.

I'm not sure, but it could be around 100 years old.

Just some metal and glass.

Well, that’s quite a find given that it’s about 100 years old.  My grandmother used to love wearing brooches like that.  I can only view the thumbnail so I’m not able to see the full detail of it. When I click on the thumbnail to view the full screen photo and to comment on photos, the page is blank. It has been like this for almost 2 months now and I have talked to the administration about it but they haven’t resolved the issue yet. It is so frustrating as I would like to view the photos full screen  and comment on them.

ouch, that's not funny at all! I use a big, fat computer (asus) with a big screen and sometimes a laptop (acer) and can't complain about any problems.
About the brooch - I think, I paid 5 €. Of course the became rare over the last 20 years, but it's still a common find. I know them, because I collect old photographs of women (now and then I'm generous and I will buy an "old" man too). Sometimes comparable pieces are visible on these pictures.
