I haven't a bicycle - at least not anymore. Instead I have a peppermill. It was given to me from my friend Christine as birthday present. She saw me, when I admired it, when we visited Zürich. It's from a shop with lot of recycled and upcycled items from different kind of social projects. This item was produced by people, who have longterm difficulties in finding a new job. I think, who ever made it, did an awesome job.
It's the middle part of a bicycle wheel - whatever the name in English may be. In German it's called "Nabe" and I found terms like hub, boss, center and driving collar. Nevertheless it is now a peppermill. It's quite handy and very useful. It survived a deep fall on the tiles without a scratch (bicycle part ...). The wheel on top is a little bit bend since, but it doesn't matter at all. Now the peppermill looks like a cheeky French chef with a beret!
