Orchid Challenge #6

Maybe you want join the orchid challenge too?!
I will post some orchids in the next days, like this orchid from botanical garden in Linz (Austria).

Orchids are sometimes very elongated. Actually I had to be very careful to have all the parts of the blossom in the picture and still cut a part of.

At least I learned from this picture something very important: Be careful and check all the pictures before leaving (some parts behind). It's sometimes harder to focus yourself than the camera.

If you are interested in orchids and want to know, how to care for them, please read - well illustrated with lot of pictures – instructions by ANDI.

"It's sometimes harder to focus yourself than the camera".
I think you've touched a deep truth  with that statement, Sigrid. Thank you.
(And I'm going to use that line over and over again to myself " Joe, you idiot, focus yourself first" grinning )

Ok, a very wet hothouse is for this Orchid a real advantage ...

This one has a very impressive colour. To atract insects perhaps?

Maybe, but there is also the possibility of pretending to be sexual partner (if they look like insects!) or it is attraction by color, fragrance and  - of course - the best nectar nearby. wink
