Drummer from Hell

by Sigrid Strohschneider-Laue June. 21, 2018 2018 views

It seems, I have a heart for drummers. When I scrolled through the pictures from Nova Rock, most of them were from drummers. For example: I photographed Ray Luzier – I’m a big Korn fan – at least 40 times. The reason was of course more or less, because I liked the show of Jonathan Davis a lot.

John Fred Young made it to the second place. The drummer of the Black Stone Cherry’s appeared on 20 pictures.

Please, stay calm, I picked for this post not all or the best, but only the pictures, I liked most.

#1 is a great capture, but we will never agree when it comes to musical taste
And that guy in #4 has the biggest guitar I've ever seen ! smile

joy ... biggest guitar - I really looked ... joy
As I already told Jay
Taste is ... well ... is taste.
I like Jazz a lot! I'm a big fan of
baroque opera (like some heavymetal musicians too). I'm heavymetal fan,
because the violence is in the music and not in the people. Did you
know, that most accidences on highways are caused be drivers who heared
Mozart? In the end I wouldn't have survived learning for my Abitur in 1981
without Black Sabbath (THANKS OZZY!!!).

Throwing and catching the flying drumsticks - impressive all of them.
I'm still rhythmically humming and headbanging deep down in my soul.

Love your camera work here, as always, my dear! I'm just just glad I can't hear the "noise" (((GRIN))).......
I think the same folks who love horror movies (I don't) also love heavymetal; just as the same folks who prefer love stories (I do) prefer beautiful soothing melodies ........There's just no accounting for "taste".......right??? (((GRIN)))
Saying I'm a big fan of "noises from hell" (heavymetal), is a like saying I'm keen on having an ice pick, shoved to the hilt, in my ear drum...(((GRIN)))
Hey! Come to think of it, "Ear Drum Ice Pick" would be a fabulous name for a metal band!!!
For my taste, calling heavymetal "music", is like calling rape, love making........
Hey! Another great name for a metal band:
"Audio Rape"......(((GRIN)))
Please don't take offense to my unsolicited critique. Just wanted to put in "my two-cent's worth" and a little levity.....
(((GRIN)))
Cheers!

It's been quite a while since I've been to a live concert, as well.
The hassle of getting to the venue, paying exorbitant prices, trying to remember where I parked my car & fighting the traffic back home, has made it a little more than I'm willing to endure, especially since I can hear & see just about anything I want, via my audio & video subscriptions on TV & radio.....in the comfort and safety of my humble abode......right???

I've never heard of Trombone Shorty! I'll have to check him out!
Namaste.......My "lazy soul" is delighted to meet a kindred "spirit"

Yes, that is the scary part of it. But the 176,50 € for four days of pure fun was it worth. The price is of course higher, when you add the food (between 5 and 13 €) and the occasional T-shirt (30 €) or Hoodie (50 €). Water is for free - I don't drink and drive - not even a small beer or a white wine with soda (the traditional "Spritzer" in this area). BUT I'm the lucky girl, who has a press access to the closest parking area. Traffic can be an issue. Sunday it wasn't funny at all, but the nights before sunday was so late or so early, that nobody besides us were on the highway. Unbelieveable, I even found at once a parking place for my car right in front of our house, without searching for an hour! Maybe I should come home always this late/early!

For that kind of money you could have a deluxe dinner, at the best restaurant with top flight wine...complete with door-to-door transportation, with little or no major hearing degradation....right???
(((grin)))
I can't say I'm with you 100%,  that the violence portrayed & romanticized by the metal bands' offerings doesn't spill over into actual violent behavior in reality, especially in people who have been ostracized or marginalized by their peers and "polite society" in general....Having years of experience counseling young people who have been institutionalized, it's pretty easy to see how impressionable they are, especially when they have seen very few, if any, examples of altruism, but plenty of examples of criminal behavior, in their neighborhoods, gangs, schools & even in their immediate families......I can't imagine how being exposed to and normalizing even more twisted examples of how to be in the world, could be a positive influence to encourage....Sheesh!
I hope you did give credit, in your final University Dissertation, to Black Sabbath & Ozzy......... yeah.......right.........
(((GRIN)))
Anyway, onward thru the fog, we must go......for better or worse.....
Cheers!

ps. this response was supposed to be in response to your comment below:
"Yes this is the scary part of it...."
For some reason PB software wanted to keep putting my response  above your comment, instead of below it.....hmmmmm.........oh well, again: "onward thru the fog, we must go">>>>>>"
