King and Queen of Schloss Ambras

by Sigrid Strohschneider-Laue June. 22, 2018 2218 views

When I was in Innsbruck, I visited Schloss Ambras. It was the second visit and I could do it again and again and again. I love it for its beautiful surroundings, the immense history, the incredible collection and of course for the impressive architecture. But this will be theme for another post.

The first thing I photographed was an inhabitant: a peacock. He tried to enter the visitor center, because he begged for food. His begging was very demanding and loud – maybe in another live he was a singer for a heavymetal band. Later he found two young victims, easily to impress, who fell for is beauty. The children were very eager to feed him and he was very generous to show them his best behavior.

Food is most of the time the trigger – maybe therefore are political banquets are so important, otherwise the uncivilized maniacs of the world would eat up each other. Maybe we should cancel banquets and let them tear up and gobble down each other.

The hen was acting like a queen. She was overlooking her park from a wall, overgrown by ivy. She was constantly grooming every feather on her body. It was almost impossible to take a clear and sharp picture of her. Something was always out of focus.

#1..was he allowed free access to the indoors? Kool perspective...
#3...nice catch! those designs are mesmerizing......I wonder if that's the point??? may make the "ladies" swoon...right?
#4...well, did you give him a treat?
#5...kids are always so kind to animals....
#6 #7.....is this the "Queen of the castle"???
Wonderful series! Thanks for sharing these!!!
Another great addition for a metal band - a chorus of screaming peacocks to "round out" the cacophony........
Good name for the band, as well - "The Screaming Peacocks"......
(((grin)))

#1 - no, he was just begging very loud, but didn't came in.
#3 - this are eyes, like the eyes on butterfly wings and they have the same function. They are a design to scare away rivals and enemies. The peacock is somehow the "evil eye" of "we are legion". wink
#4 - I would have, if I had know, that someone greedy will be there and is waiting for it!
#5 - no fear - yes. But always nice - not so much. It depends a lot of the parents, how they look out for the behavior around animals (and other people ...). I have seen children throwing stones and sticks at birds and squirrels, who are used to be fed. I asked not to do such nasty things, but the parents gave a shit.
#6, #7 - yes - Antonio made me rethink it for a short while, but I'm sure it's a "she" and not the dragqueen.
But "Growling Peecocks" would be more fitting - at least for a punkband in the style of the Sex Pistols. joy

You are so right about how the parents are toward animals, etc. being passed on to the kids behavior.
If they have seen only kindness, they will be kind, as well.....More evidence for the importance of positive role models in kids' lives, like heavy metal lyrics..........right?????........NOT!!!
((((GRIN))))

Another good metal band name???
