A Day Off

Finally a chance to take pictures with Zilla. She is absolutely incredible! Now I have to become a better photographer and we will become an unbeatable team! Today we visited Burg Kreuzenstein. It's a rebuilt romanticized castle. It already was for long time in ruins back in the 19th century, when it was bought by a noble hoarder. He bought absolutely everything he liked. He owned a castle in another part of Austria which is still stuffed from cellar to rooftop with all his purchases from roman tomb stones to furniture and paintings and of course pieces of architecture like ceilings and balconies.

Am I a little bit jealous? Yes, I am!

Burg Kreuzenstein is something like "Frankenstein's Monster". It's a European architecture puzzle. He put together everything he liked and called it a new old building. Recycling and upcycling before it became modern!

Right beside the castle is Adlerwarte Kreuzenstein, which is a falconry. Sadly it was so hot, that we skipped the show. We will come back in autumn - I'm sure of it! At least I got the chance to take some pictures and like to thank the team of Adlerwarte for it!

At least we got some nice beer and a decent meal in the Burg Taverne.

Aha, they are organized!
Yes it was delicious - sadly I couldn't order a special beer, because I'm always the driver. *sigh*

I thought in the first moment it would be french cut vegetables! Just delicious al dente pasta. perfect for this slighly sweety and sour cherry sauce. I got the wrong meal, because I ordered salad with roastbeef - in the end I was glad to get this tasty dish.
I'm sad, that the crow, isn't as sharp as the others. Maybe next time .. Lucky me, it's almost around the corner (max. 30 min. by car).

Love the old feel coming from that amazing old architecture, and the birds too.

I love this kind of place. Living near the Welsh border we have the chance to visit many medieval castles. And even better, you got to see birds of prey too... what a brilliant bonus. I posted my picture today before I had seen your post so I think I must be psychic!

I visited the show last year and was so fascinated, that I forget to take pictures. When the Harris's Hawk landed right beside me, my day was perfect.
But the castle is just a eclectic remake. Nevertheless funny to see such a micture. I joint a tour two years ago and was totally shocked about the tour guide. I almost (!) took over the tour, because her lack of knowledge.
