Judas Priest - what a weekend ... Finally I could "visit and hear" my birthday gift, which was given to me by Victoria: front stage tickets! Chef, thank you for letting Victoria out of the sweet chains of patisserie for this special event!
Victoria and I went to the concert hall nearby. Lucky me, Stadthalle is just around the corner. We were waiting in a long, very long queue with other mad people. I bet there were 75 % male fans. Especially this older guys, which all were there to revive their youth again. I also bet 75 % of the male visitors were over 60 years old. Only very few of them came with their wifes. Funny thing, the younger visitors – between 16 and 35 years – are a complete different sort of fans as the huge amount of visitors at Nova Rock (around 220.000 crazy people between 12 and at least 80). Maybe they are just a minority and therefore not such a memorable disturbance among the mass of "normal" metalheads.
Battle Beast and Accept (I got a virus alert from the band website, therefore a wikipedia link) played to warm up the audience. Btw, it had all evening 30°C outside – no warm up necessary. I thought all day long, I should fire up the back oven in our kitchen to cool the air down! Inside of the big concert hall should have been air condition - was there an air-condition?! Jeez, we couldn’t drink as fast as we sweat it out again. At least OUR (!) “sweat-smell-protection” did work just fine. Victoria had to hold me back, because I wanted to offer the guy right in front of us two “Fisherman's Friend” – this strong as hell menthol lozenges. I was going to ask him to put one in each of his armpits. I would have also paid for a beer, if he would have promised to not lift is arms up ever again. Let’s sum it up: his smell was as loud as all three metal bands together. A memorable evening – of course mainly because of the music!
I almost didn’t buy something from the fan merchandise. Women have 26 % less income, they get 43 % less retirement money and they have to pay 5 € more for the same T-shirt (if there are any T-shirts for women available ...)? Hey, metal boyzzz – all of you could do better than that!
Nevertheless I bought the last CD of Battle Beast - a good investment for the next 1.000 km on the highway to hell.
If you ask, why I didn't post pictures of the concert: There are copyrights and there were flying beakers (with beer in it!!!).
