Last of the Summer Wine

"Weinkost" is an event at which people taste and compare wines. Wine is a big deal in Austria. Last weekend – actually including Friday and Monday – the wine producers of Lutzmannsburg presented the best of the best to their customers and all connoisseurs. Lutzmannsburg is part of Blaufränkischland, which is well known for its red wine.

At the moment we are staying with my parents and therefore we got the chance to visit Weinkost. No driving necessary! It was lot of fun, talking to a lot of people and drinking sensational wines.

I shot on two days a lot of pictures with both cameras. When I sorted the pictures it was again visible: I’m not a passionate portrait photographer, although a couple of pictures are really good. They are good, because I photographed people I like. Pictures of people I don’t know, they are only a little bit better as the pictures of people I don’t like at all. I don't want to have a law suit hanging over my head ...

Appreciated your story and photos!  It is great to learn about summer traditions that have nothing to do with sand/beach!  End of the summer wine event sounds lovely :)

So, are they as grumpy as the guys in the TV show? They certainly don't look it and with a glass of wine in hand why should they?

No, they aren't grumpy. In the contrary - I think, my father never got older than 12 and developed funny ideas, when my mother didn't watched out. About some of his ideas class mates and friends of mine are still talking. joy

I cook with wine too - after I have tasted enough from a bottle, I have to upcycle the food with the last remains of it ... smile

Not bad at all. Love those weinfests. We go every year to Germany for a few tastings

Thanks. wink Germany has some good wine regions. My parents always bought rhinewine "Riesling". I'm not used to the red wines in Germany, but I assure you, these red wines from the Austrian/Hungarian border are excellent, rich and very strong.

Must try them than. We go to the Ahrtall, there is some good red wine there. Abd it is only a drive from 250km
