No Time for Slow Motion

by Sigrid Strohschneider-Laue March. 29, 2019 1123 views

Taking care of my parents does come with some benefits. One of this benefits is my mother’s garden – if the weather is as warm and sunny as today. Another good thing is, I still have Tom’s lens to play with. Therefore I tried to combine the pleasure of photographing Felix with the fun of playing with Felix. I bet, it would have been easier not to throw the well closed bag full of treats with one hand and trying to photograph with the other hand. Sadly I have never enough time to play with shutter speed and more.

Next time I will organizes such activities better. I plan to develop another pair of hands, a kangaroo like tail and a pouch. I could be the prototype of a genetic designed photographer, who is its own tripod, bag and assistant. A lot pictures are out of focus, some cut the dog in the wrong places, some are without dog and others with too much dog, because he kissed the lens. Nevertheless some of the picture are really funny version of "I Believe I Can Fly".

Adorable series! What a fun-loving guy! I think your action shots are wonderful! You certainly captured his personality well, too!

Next time Roland has to throw something and I will taking pictures - of both of them. It's complicated to  do both, especially as an unexpierenced photographer.

Yes and no: actually the fisher and hunting vests looking more comfortable and have a lot more pockets. I already was thinking about sewing a jacket with lot of pockets. My skills are very, very limited, but sewing together a lot of squares and rectangulars can't be too complicated. I did it as a student, before I joint an "expedition". It was a very robust white/beige fabric, used to produce tires! I dyed it in different colors and "patched" it together. Everybody was joking about my colorful jacket, but I was the only one, who never had to search for all the equipment.

smile If Newton wouldn't have preferred to play with apples instead with a dog like Felix, he wouldn't have developed a single thought about gravity. apple dog

The great benefit of digital - you can blast away and discard the rubbish afterwards... imaging doing that with film! Looks like a fun time was had by all.

A billion pictures ... Yes, with a rollfilm you have to plan more and can't be so spontaneous - or you have to be VERY rich. I'm sure, I wouldn't have taken a single picture without help. Nevertheless I'm glad I didn't throw the camera and tried to look through the food bag. Therefore next time, someone else has to throw the food bag ... wink

We both had fun, but next time, we will do it a little bit more professional. Throwing and photogrphing was a little bit complicated. I'm glad I didn't throw the camera and tried to look through the food bag. joy

Yes, we all do our very best. In the end a short nap in the sun was necessary. I was sitting on the stairs and didn't move, because he is always at my side as soon I lift a single finger. He even opens his eyes, when he hears the camera. He is an adopted dog from the shelter and he seems to be very keen not to loose its new family. Since November he is glued to my side - I love him, we all do.

We have two yellow labs:  11 year old Puck, aka "The Love Dog", and his cousin 9 year old Winger, aka "The Puppy From Hell".  If anything is broken, knocked over, chewed up, messed with - we always know it was Winger.  Puck, on the other hand, is like your dog.  He'd be happy to spend his life at my wife's feet just looking up at her.  smile
