Jump 'n' Run

by Sigrid Strohschneider-Laue January. 03, 2020 1450 views

The last day of the year and we had to get up at 05:00 in the morning - yaaaawn! To do grocery shopping on such a day is my least favorite thing do – as a matter of fact, I hate grocery shopping in general. Therefore we did in the afternoon something we all enjoy a lot: playing "fetch" with Felix. Roland had to throw the toy and I tried to take good pictures. I almost failed to remember all functions of Zilla – yes, it is not that easy to keep in mind the what and where, because I had almost no time to play with my camera or go for a photo walk in the last two month.

In the end I took so many pictures, it was almost like shooting with a machine gun! Photographing Felix in motion is not a small task, because the little guy is almost too fast. No, I'm sure, I'm not too slow, it must have been the camera, which wasn't fast enough! A lot of pictures ended up as a colorful blur. Sometimes I just got half a dog - sadly the wrong end of him. He is like a happy child on a trampoline and I was the surprised mom, who didn't expect he could jump so high! It's like, he wanted to touch the upper rim of the picture with his nose. The pictures are not as professional I hoped for, but they became a documentation of my two very happy men. At least some good memories to compensate a very exhausting 2019. We were still laughing, when we went for the first walk with Felix in the early hours (01:30) of 2020!

Felix is a rescued dog from a shelter in Vienna. TierQuarTier took him in after the police confiscated him. We got in November 2018 the best pal we could wish for. We are now a family since 14 month. If you want a dog or a cat, please, adopt an animal from a shelter in your area!

Who rescued whom????
My kids have a ticker on their car that says this!
Our youngest is a rescue, as well!
He's wonderful.
His name is Happy & he lives up to his moniker!
He manufactures happiness where ever he goes & whomever he's with!

A great series of images that were quite challenging to take. It looks like Felix was having big fun :) give him a pet for me please and have a good day.

What an athlete and a loving companion, beautifully captured! I especially like the last one and can totally relate to forgetting how my camera works. laughing Shelter dogs all the way! They are the best.

Yes he is really fast and on a short distance he can keep up with sighthounds. I'm a little bit afraid he will develop problems with his long back because of that I don't like if he want to jump like a pro. Yesss #14 ... I couldn't resist to give everybody an impression of my eyesight - no, I'm just to slow! laughing
We will do it again, with more daylight and more ideas to get better pictures.

Best photo is #14 😂.

Really good shots of an absolutely beautiful dog. You got very lucky with him or he got very lucky with you. Either way a really nice addition. Glad you were able to remember how to use Zilla. Thank you for sharing. Always a pleasure and a treat reading your posts.

I couldn't resist - there are a lot of these sparkling dogs! I just want to give everybody a little taste about my eyesight without my glasses. joy
Yes, we fit together like "egg and 'shell'" although I have a keen eye on him, because he can be a dominant dog. He likes only family and close friends. I'm the pack leader, Roland ... he has to work to keep his place ... sometimes I just have to remind him about this sad fact! grin
As soon there will be more daylight, we will try again  - panning, shutter speed  and different angles. I didn't want to sit or lay down on the grass.

Happy moments. Hope you have many of them. Capturing a dog running not so easy. Shutterspeed has to up to a 1/1000, or practising following him. Takes a lot of effort.

Happy moments ... yes, we try! I tried with 1/1000 and also did panning, but you are right about it, it's not so easy. Maybe, when there will be more daylight, we will do it again.
