We are in Quebec to hear a young friend singing in Marriage of Figaro tonight. Came a day early to enjoy the city. It is so beautiful and more European than North American. Some of the original city wall remains and is being repaired.

The Dufferin Terrace alongside the Chateau Frontenac Hotel. Nice view of the St Lawrence.

Below the Terrace were the foundations of the 17th to 19th century building, the Governors’ mansions in the French and British periods.. An archaeological dig was done about 15 years ago, and over 1000 artifacts were uncovered. They are beautifully displayed in this small site.

You walk through the foundations from beyond the mansions on either side.

Quite amazing that they found so many interesting artifacts. Worth a visit if you come to Quebec
