There was actually a thin gap between the hard horizon and the haze layer in the Raleigh area this morning. The sun broke that horizon in full blaze and imparted a gorgeous pink glow to the haze at sunrise proper, seen in the top image (and lots better large on black [bighugelabs.com]). Eight minutes later, above (and better LOB [bighugelabs.com]), the sun had risen into the haze and took on a more diffuse appearance. Interesting… and sweet!
