The Indian Elephant

This was at Guruvayuvoor
The temple's elephant sanctuary.
The young / juvenile animals are so full of energy. The animals are trained.
When not being trained or when not in a programme these elephants are chained.
The young ones are so full of energy and are chained. The natural instinct of these majestic creatures are to roam and explore in nature. When constrained they are so stressed and start swinging their head and nodding, moving trunks and legs that are free.
Most spectators think this as “the elephant is so friendly” “lively elephant” “playfull elephant”…. in reality it is a stressed out creature.
People need to educate themslves, we are capable of being compassionate. Are'nt we.

A young male

Each elephant has a post of its own to which it is chained.

Something for the elephant to play with.

Thank you for sharing. I`m allways sad to see wild animals behind bars or chained.

But haven#t your people a great experience in handle elephants and treating them quite well? Only a question and I guess those have a better live than in a zoo
