Flower market

Last Sunday had an opportunity to visit the wholesale market at Mysore.
It was great fun to see and experience a riot of colours fragrances and people.
We saw fruits, flowers, different leaves, lots of other ware too

Asters, different varieties of yellow chrysanthemums..
It was a feast to my eyes
Most vendors/wholesale buyers have shade put over their makeshift stalls, the hot afernoon sun lit the market with warm tones.

Jasmine being sold…
Fragrances that elate the senses waft in these small alleys in the market.

Making strings of jasmine
The Jasmine is soaked put in a container with water so that it remains fresh for a long time, they are fstened with threads to make strings/garlands.
I liked the little wodden box kept by this man to stash his income.

I did not crop this picture..I want to show one other thing… notice the string of green chilles and lemon in the picture on the righthandside over the mans head. It is a talisman to ward off evil eyes or any other negetivity directed towards a person or the establishment. It is made up of one lemon and seven green chillies.

Hi Aparna, Thank you for your friend request.
Lovely to see your pictures of India and this one of the bazzar. I have not been in India for around 12 years, and your pics make me nostalgic.
