2020-02 Mt. Duckyou

We had quite a scenery in Duckyou with frost in the mysterious clouds but did not have sufficient snow in last December. Duckyou is famous for its heavy snow fall and it should be a pity if we miss a chance to walk through the deep snow.

Last week I had a news that a heavy snow fall in Duckyou and immediately packed stuffs to the mountain. The national park just opened its service on the very day I made it there. Though the employees of the park trudged all the trail for the safety and convenience of the trekkers, it was still hard to walk the trail. As it was week days when I took the trail walk there, I could enjoy lonely walk all by myself : no one within my view for hours.

Temple Baek-lyun. It sits where the trail begins. A characteristic Buddists' temple building style of Korea, which is different from those of China or Japan.

Wooden stairs are of no use in the deep snow : it just turned out to be steep ascent and I could not find any staircases.

I just could see frost last December but snowy trees as well this time. It seems perfect to fry them to eat.

The peak of Mt. Muryong. It was extremely slippery to climb this hill which is deep in snow.

A lodge in the mountain. They supply almost nothing, no service for the guests. You've got to do everything for yourself but they have fascinating toilet, super clean and very warm, and eco-friendly as well. I did want to sleep in the restroom. Very cozy.

On the way down from the mountain I got lost. I could not find the trail hidden in the deep snow. I had no choice but to follow the rocky valley which is extremely dangerous, which is just good to have legs broken. I was very lucky to make it down to the exit without 'serious' injury. Of course I had to fall down from the rocks upside down couple of times. Be very careful when you are in the winter mountains.

Thank you. Otherwise I could not post these pictures. Though I am well aware of the danger of winter mountains, I have to go there. I'm seeking for the beauties behind the danger - actually danger is hidden behind the beauties. smile

Thank you, Antonio. I'm happy that you enjoyed them. Though I walk the same mountain, same trail, it always give me different scenery, which is the reason why I love trail walk. smile
