Little Free Library

My littlest one looking at the books.

My littlest one looking at the books.

It is up! I’ve been wanting to do a Little Free Library since early 2015. I wrote to the City of Eastvale asking if one could be placed in a park near us. The response received was positive and instead of putting one in a park, I decided to put one in our front yard.  I didn’t want to make it a permanent fixture in the yard just in case we decide to move, so I used a planter instead. Now if and when we do move it can come with us if need be. I am going to put some flowers in the planter. The pole is held in with cement blocks, wood, gravel, sand and top soil. We didn’t want it to be easily tipped over. I spent some time on it with hopes that it would hold up for a while. I repurposed a two drawer dresser that I found at Savers Thrift Store. All the rest of the materials were found at Home Depot and the back yard. I have to say that I was glad about using the saw and various other power tools. I didn’t have to break out the butter knife in hopes of loosening up screws. Now just to register it with the Little Free Library! That will require $40. I’ve spent more than expected on this Free Little Library so that registration will need to wait. This project gave me something to do, something to focus on and a goal I can achieve other than the never ending job of cleaning the house 😉. It’s taught me that I need to have something for me, something that I get excited about, something that I can be proud of myself for. I sure hope people will drop by and get a book as well as adding a few more in there!
