Little kids hold such a great power in their hearts. They are young and pure. They have ambition and determination. I admire their innocent authenticity. I admire their desire to love. They give love in ways that just warm my heart. They can't the basic necessities for us, but they provide love in it's purest form.
Yesterday, we were going about our school day, reading week 7 of their Big Life Journals about a young man named Hudson Tyler. We were talking about having good qualities in character development. The story we read stated that Hudson saw a need for clean water and decided to make a difference by donating his birthday. I was intrigued and decided to search for more information on what this organization is and what exactly is "donating a birthday??" We watched the Charity: Water episodes about The Journey . It showed us how the water pumps are made and maintained, as well as the people involved in making it happen. The financial information is also available. We found out that donating a birthday is asking for donations instead of gifts for your birthday.
Fia, my youngest didn't want to wait for her birthday. She was ready to jump in today. She asked if she could start a campaign. How could I refuse a desire to help? I knew if I said no, I would have an uprising on my hands! When I saw that 100% of the money goes to providing water, I was all for them getting involved. The girls are so excited about it. They are thinking of making things to sell, having a water stand, and so forth. They are ready to skip out on school work to raise funds for their campaign. Whoa girls, school work first! I love their enthusiasm. I love their motivation and determination to be a change in the world. They didn't just say, oh what a great idea, and move on to playing on their devices.
They said, lets do this!
While we were editing their mission message on their page, I sent a text to their dad who was working in his office a few feet away. When we saved the changes and looked at the page, the girls saw that they had their first donation. They literally broke out in dance praising about it. "Hallelujah!!" Afterwards, Fia sunk into the couch and said to herself while more videos about charity: water,
“I’m so excited to help.”
I love their heart to help. Please join in with them. Even a dollar is huge to them. They celebrate each donation to help others.
