Today was my first day as an intern at the University of Auckland, New Zealand within the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. I will be spending the next 8 weeks helping PhD students with their research in structural and earthquake engineering.

We didn't actually start real work today. Instead, we walked over to the City Campus (first picture). At the city campus, we filled out some paperwork and took photos for our ID cards. Mine is pictured here.

After that, we went to the Newmarket Campus and toured the Structures Testing Laboratory, which is part of the building pictured here. It includes a huge test hall which I unfortunately did not get a good photo of.
