This week was busy with testing the wall in the structures lab! The picture above is of the test set-up before loading was applied to the wall.

This week was busy with testing the wall in the structures lab! The picture above is of the test set-up before loading was applied to the wall.

This is the wall after it was incrementally loaded. The loads were applied in the in-plane direction, in order to simulate a concrete shear wall. As shown, cracks were concentrated at the bottom of the wall.

This is a close-up image of the damage at one side of the wall. Because of the lateral loading, the concrete was put in tension and cracks formed. The cracks expended so much, and this made the concrete fall apart.
