They say don't meet your heroes, but I was lucky to meet one of mine yesterday, the great Bill Doyle, and happily he didn't dissapoint, just a pure Dublin gent. Apart from buying him a pint, I was happy to give him a copy of my book, so the ultimate test awaits :-

I have a love/hate relationship with this old city of Dublin, but there is no doubting we have produced some of the all time greats, from the legend that was Phil Lynott, to the voices of Ronnie Drew and Like Kelly, from the writing genius of Brendan Behan, Samuel Beckett and James Joyce, right through to the visual skills of Francis Bacon and Fergus Bourke … and for me Bill is right up with the best of them …
Honoured, but nervously await his approval …
