Frederiksted, St. Croix (USVI)

The first three ports on our itinerary were ones we visited on our firs cruise in February but that gave us a chance to experience them again in different ways. Our first stop was St. Croix. On our first visit we took a taxi across the island to Christiansted, the largest city on the island, and in the end both agreed St. Croix was our least favorite stop on that trip.

This time we stayed in Frederiksted and walked about a half a mile south to a boutique resort called The Sand Castle on The Beach [sandcastleonthebeach.com] which Rob had read about while researching the cruise. We called and confirmed walking directions and set out on our way.

It was a pretty walk along the sea wall and a strip of beach. We arrived at the hotel, confirmed our reservation at the front desk for 2 lawn chairs and an umbrella (and 2 rum punches!) and walked through the courtyard to the beach. The resort itself seemed clean, quaint and friendly with a small pool area, beach bar and cafe.

This experience definitely changed our minds about St. Croix!

Our ship, Celebrity Millennium, docked in the harbor.
