Willemstad, Curacao

We had seen photos of Curacao and had always thought it was someplace we wanted to visit. Even with pre-conceived notions, we were not let down! Curacao, namely Willemstad, quickly became our favorite stop.

There was a short 5 minute walk from the boat to the old fortress which has been transformed into shopping, restaurants and bars. We looked around there (and at the shops at the Renaissance hotel which is also right there) and then continued on to the Queen Mary Pontoon Bridge which took us over to the Punda side of town where all the dutch-inspired row houses are.

We walked through town and in and out of shops. Found a store named “Madonna” and of course needed photos of that. haha. Then we walked over to the Venezuelan floating market to check that out.

Finally, after spending most of the day exploring the town we came back to ship.
