The sky was looking awlfully cool as the sun set. The sun sets on Eastern Avenue. (I made a few of the lantern bags for the movie “Liberty Heights” like 12 years ago, still had them in the basement, so took one of them and attached it to a stick with some wire.) Take a paper bag and cut a pattern into it, then stick colored tissue paper to the inside, put a lit candle inside (carefully), et voila, a lantern. Some people come in costume. There are various bands and drummers and such spaced throughout the parade. We went alittle in front of a Dixieland style band. “Oh when the saints”, etc, etc… How the rolling lanterns are powered. (not shown) Hard to shoot the parade in the dark with a point n shoot… it's quite long , quite loud, and very fun!! The birds in action. When it ends, there's always a 10-15 minute shadow puppet show on a big screen. cool stuff… Until next year!….
