Congrats on the FP! Fascinated by the continuation of a tradition that makes no sense at all! Would have loved some narration as to the background of this tradition. The comments section clearly shows that this tradition is in vogue in other countries too. Is this just some sort of bravado on the part of some. Or is there some logical explanation to it? Is it symbolic of 'washing away all the dirt/sins' of last year? Will someone clarify?

May be the only bath they have all year! Could cause a heart attack...otherwise it would be exhilarating! Interesting post :-)

We do that here in Canada too and call it the Polar Bear Dip, ours is to raise $$ for charity, like the Food bank...Crazy! But for a good cause...

En effet, la tradition de crever d'une pneumonie mérite d'être préservée...

Bonne année et beaucoup de chaleur, l'ami.
