My morning walk has been neglected for far too long. It used to be an everyday thing. No excuses. I've been slacking since the onset of cold weather, though. I blame the seductive charms of my goose down comforter, keeping me in bed until the last possible moment. I was able to escape her warm downy clutches this morning, though, and I'm so glad I did. The day dawned with a crisp golden glow, and the brisk walk invigorated me, mind body and spirit. I've been in a fantastic frame of mind the past few days, anyway, but even so, a morning walk makes such a marked difference in my day, taking a good mood and making it incandescent. I am filled with a relaxed but bountiful energy, and my whole outlook on life improves. So, I'm putting it in writing here, so as to sharpen my resolve: I hereby solemnly pledge to cast off the billowy feather-filled seductress every morning and take my walk, come hell or high water. It's not even about the long-term benefits of brisk exercise; it's all about the instant gratification of enjoying the morning and having the energy to MAKE it a good day, even if I have to drag it kicking and screaming. Carpe diem, literally.
