Week 5: Theme - Tired

by Tracylynn Seeger February. 02, 2011 1361 views

I always knew what I wanted to do for this week's theme - a closeup shot of one of my kids sleeping. I thought I was going to have to stage it though, as it is usually too dark to shoot without a flash when they are asleep. Then my son gifted me this shot by falling asleep in his stroller on our walk today. When we got home I parked him in the back yard and grabbed my camera!

Kit & setup:
Nikon D40 camera, hand held
85mm macro lens
Lit by natural light, mid-afternoon on a sunny, winter day

Post editing:
I adjusted the lighting levels and added a soft-focus filter (to give it a dreamy look) in Photoshop Elements 8.

EXIF Data:
Exposure 1/60 sec
Aperture f/8
Focal Length 85 mm
ISO Speed 400

Beautiful. I love the texture of children's skin.

So sweet! I've been thinking I'd like to capture something similar with one of my grandkids and they never stand still! Ha ha! Don't know if it will ever happen!
