The balcony observer's 261th report- Butterfly constellation

Every year, August 13th is the peak of the Perseid meteor shower, so I just got up early to see the night sky. There was a heavy rain yesterday, and after one night, the clouds were all gone. It was a good time to watch the stars. Not sure how many meteors I saw. Probably because of light pollution, they are too fuzzy.

I saw the constellation old friend. They said, "Alnitak (ζ), Alnilam (ε) and Mintaka (δ) are on the belt of Orion; Betelgeuse, Procyon and Sirius form the winter triangle."

Winter Triangle consists of stars Betelgeuse in Orion, Procyon in Canis Minor and Sirius in Canis Major constellation.

But I am afraid of the cold and don't want to watch the stars in a big coat in winter. I like to watch the stars at night in the summer, with a cool breeze! I didn't see Orion. I only saw Butterfly, and Firefly coming to join in the fun.

I enjoy star gazing in the summer too but I dont like the mosquitos in my area of the world. Still, I take time to gaze every now and then . What a magical way of looking at stars!full moon with face

Glad you enjoy star gazing. I am afraid of the cold and don't like mosquitoes. Therefore, I admire those eco-tourist photographers very much. They will suffer cold winds in the mountains or endure mosquito bites in the jungle.

Looking at the stars from Orion is a good start. They are very bright, and not difficult to identify, especially the three close stars on the belt.star2
