Although I didn't get started until later last year, I really enjoyed doing the weekly theme challenges through the PB community forum. This year, one of my resolutions is to complete all 52 challenges.
I am also giving myself one additional assignment each month based on something that scares me a little. Taking pictures of people is one of those things, so I started with that.
I like baby steps, so I decided to practice with people I know first. This is my oldest nephew Max, who was wonderful to work with. In addition to being an adorable kid, he was so excited about trying to ride his dad's skateboard that he ignored me most of the time, which was really helpful!
Max loves to do everything his older sister does, and she is getting pretty good with her skateboard. He tried his hardest to stand up on his own, but eventually he decided it was more fun to ride on his belly.
I had a really hard time choosing just one photo to submit this week!
Other "scary" topics I plan to explore later in the year are food photography (which I enjoy, but also find completely intimidating), black and white photography, formal portraits, still life, controlling the camera wirelessly, different types of indoor lighting, and maybe (a big maybe) street photography.
If you have any other suggestions of things that may scare a girl who would most likely stick to birds, critters, and plants if it were up to her, feel free to suggest them! :) I'm happy to add them to my list!
