I think this might be a cotton rat...or an escaped guinea pig? :)

One of the best surprises of the day came right as I was leaving the park and noticed three deer peeking out of the woods along the side of the road. I stopped to watch them but stayed inside the car because I didn't want to spook them. Before long I had company - at least three other cars with people who stopped to get out and look (starting a traffic jam in the meantime).

This little buck looks sweet and innocent here, but when he saw the people get out of their cars and step toward him, he lowered his head and started walking right up to them like he was warning them to leave. Scared them right off!

Thank you! I've been looking forward to going back ever since the first time I visited last summer. Always fun to see different kinds of wildlife in a new place. smile

#13 I looked at this one and the thought that ran through my head was . She is Giving Raspberries to the other ones because in her mind you liked her better than the others. This is a great series. #6 I do believe you are correct .

Thank you! I had one other shot of the same deer with her tongue sticking out (facing the camera directly though) but it was pretty out of focus. I guess she was just a sassy lady! smile

Thank you, Lynn! It was really beautiful, just slightly nerve-wracking because of all of the "Beware of alligators" signs along the trail. But totally worth it. smile

Great photos, Bethany, especially the close-ups.  Although it looks like some of those deer might have been snorting coke.  smile .
And thanks for "favoriting" some of my Africa photos.

Thanks, Bob. laughing I probably should have alerted a park ranger...
It was hard to even choose favorites from such a nice collection!
