A Few More from Florida

by Bethany Plonski June. 20, 2019 370 views

More odds and ends from Florida since I'm a day late and dollar short on everything lately. :) Life is way too busy for my liking this month.

Most of these are from the same evening walk last week. I'd love to be back there now...

While we walked, we found this little stream flowing through the sand. It had some interesting textures and motion, so I tried some longer shutter speeds and liked how they turned out.

Filing this one under "Things I never expected to see at the beach." We had seen this kitty roaming the dunes when we started the walk and were surprised to see him resting in the sand about 15 minutes later.

The world is my litter box...

Anoles were abundant in the yard around the house and pretty much everywhere.

Look at that dewlap!

Look at that dewlap!

We also came across a nesting area for black skimmers blocked off on the beach. This was my first time seeing this interesting bird! The dark coloring on the tops of their heads almost makes them appear to be eyeless.

Thank you! I was really happy to have one lovely sunset after all the rain and storms.

Some really gorgeous captures. I don't know what it is about sand, water and sun that one can capture a gazillion photos and never tire of them, at least for me. I wonder if I lived in Florida I would feel that same.

Thank you so much! I'm the same way. The beach and sunsets will always be a novelty for me. smile

I love almost everything in this post. The colors, the animals, the sunset, the compositions. Great work my friend

Where in Florida is this?  I have some family in Boca.

It’s on the Gulf side, a place called Laguna Beach. Usually it’s easier to tell the Gulf from the Atlantic in photos, but we had pretty rough weather, so no nice calm waters for us this time. I've never been to Boca but have heard it's a pretty nice spot as well.

Kind of like our Pacific.  It often ain't that "Pacified".  bowtie

Very true! Funny how all it takes is a little bit of different weather to remind us how powerful the ocean is.

Beautiful series! Especially liked the soft waves and sunsets.

Thank you, Lynn! I wasn't sure if the softer photos would work without a tripod, but I really liked how #14 came out (might be my favorite one in this set).

Beautiful Bethany, I like the water-stream ones the best although the lizard with the red throat is a close second! Looks like you had a wonderful vacation.
What part of Florida was it? Gulf or Atlantic?

Thank you, Lee! I wasn't optimistic about using a slow shutter speed without a tripod, but it worked better than I expected. smile
This was on the Gulf Side, a place called Laguna Beach (about halfway between Panama City and Destin).

Great shots again, Bethany. I for one am always enjoying my holidays at least four times: when preparing it, when being there, when processing the photos, and when posting them on the internet smile

Thank you! The Gulf is so beautiful. We had a lot of rain while we were there, so I was happy we got to enjoy other colors besides gray for one evening. smile

My pleasure!
It's been such a wildly rainy/floody Spring/Summer this year. So much destruction & mayhem with all the high winds & tornadoes! It's been pretty tame out where I live this year, so far....

That's what I'm hearing, lots of extreme weather everywhere. I'm wondering what hurricane season will bring for us later this year. Glad to hear things are staying fairly calm for you!

Thanks! So far so good, up this way, but there are so many areas throughout the country suffering from violent thunderstorms, floods, tornados and 100+ temperatures! Makes me glad to be where I am......
