I didn't know what canna lilies were until I looked them up last year. They still remind me more of an iris than a lily, but I love their bright colors and soft shapes.

THey are beautiful but #2 sings to me. I love the whole thing and the drops add that extra bit .
Thank you! That was one of those situations where the light coming through the trees made a natural spotlight, so I dropped everything and ran over there to catch it while I could. I am enjoying being out in the mornings more and more lately, but man the light changes fast! The same place even 30 minutes later would have been a totally different outcome.
So beautiful
Thank you so much!
Soo pretty! The white one is my fav!
Thank you, Lynn! Mine too. Always happy when I can get a nice dark background outside!
This world is full of beauty. We just have to search for it, like you did here.
It sure is! I'm always grateful for any time I can dedicate to looking for beauty. Good for the soul!
Nice shots, Bethany. I like the dark backgrounds - really makes the flowers 'pop'. Did you add some lighting to these (a flash or similar) to highlight the blossoms?
Thank you, Greg! I'm still getting over my flash phobia, so these are all with natural light (but early in the morning). The second one worked the best because the sun was starting to reach the flowers but hadn't hit the lake behind them yet, so the background fell right off into the shadows. I dropped the blacks a little in Lightroom, but that was a case of being in the right place at the right time for sure. Shots like these are slowly converting me to a morning person.
WOW! Wonderful blossoms!!! Nice backdrops to highlight these beauties!
Thank you, Jay! I think it's safe to say that these were my payoff for dragging myself out of bed early on Saturday morning. The garden where I found them was heavily wooded and had some gorgeous natural lighting situations to take advantage of, not to mention the flowers themselves!
Always a pleasure, my friend!
Thanks for sacrificing your time in bed, to get these beautiful images for us!!!
Gladly! Thank you for inspiring me to be more diligent with your beautiful sunrise and sunset shots!
Bethany your images always inspire! I agree with Mr Greg- I was impressed by the black background contrasting against the vibrant colors of the Lilies wondering how you accomplished it so well. Beautiful work!
Thank you so much, Buster! I really appreciate that. One of the things I love best about photography is how manipulating the light and settings can reveal differences in what we see with our eyes and the images the camera can create. Fascinating stuff!
