[fresh pasta]

in this case, fresh and home made pasta

the fella made me a butchers block.. i have this awful, old slate counter top that is hand grouted and i would never dream of rolling out food on top of it.. no matter how many times i disinfect it - it seems gross to me.. so all pie dough and pizza dough is made my taping all these flimsy plastic cutting boards together.. it's a ridiculous hack and a pain in the arse..

so after i oiled and conditioned the new butchers block, i decided to test it out.. and why not with something that has always intimidated me.. fresh pasta .. [yeah, i know Russell, how can i be scared of something so simple? let's say you inspire me]

ingredients were simple.. flour, some fresh eggs from the chicken coop, a little evoo and s & p.. sounds easy.. but where it was a labour of love.. i hand mixed and kneaded the dough [i'm 100 lbs, these scrawny arms got a work out] and i also rolled the pasta out with a rolling pin.. [more scrawny arms work out]..

i served it up with a san marzano marinara sauce.. and i was actually impressed with the end result..

Looks delicious, and beautiful lighting in #1! I've always been too intimidated to make my own pasta (and now I can no longer have wheat), but it looks like it is so worth the effort.

Looks luscious! Good for you to try something new~ I predict you will continue making your own pasta, time permitting.....
Fresh home-made, almost anything, is worth the effort, I've found! Plus, you are adding your own love which, which is a priceless addition....no???
