Callidora

Callidora !

Callidora !

Callidora once whispered into my ear her name
She was the one who wanted her freedom so dear
Callidora, a hungry soul whom time did tame
I said, 'Come here oh dreamy eyes, don't fear.'
Her body like an ocean floor, soft yet grey
Her eyes like the drunkard's dream, reeking in jest
Her velvety coat frequented the streets and stray
As she searched for a shelter, an abandoned nest

Callidora once whispered into my ear her name
She was the one who wanted her freedom so dear
She walked around the house bereft of pride and shame
She walked so softly that even the birds didn't hear
She dreamt of peaceful nights and of mornings calm
She dwelled in her abode in the attick amidst dust
She preyed without the slightest qualm
Like a shipwrecked bewildered sailor aghast

A love-struck ashray of the western sea
She did fall but for the king's only scion
Who said, 'From now on you will but a cat be.'
And live miserably in the world created by Hyperion
Thus from then on she lived her life for nine deaths to claim
'The quest for revenge', to this truth she did adhere
Callidora then whispered into my ear her name
She was the one who wanted her freedom so dear...
