Orton Experimenting

So, as the sun set on my day at Victoria Gardens, I captured some random details of the outdoor mall.

Then I decided to experiment with the Orton effect. Tackylady1 [photoblog.com] used it on some of her posts and I really liked it. I may have gone a little overboard!

The first four use the effect, the last one is a straight shot. I'm not sure I got it right because I have Photoshop Elements 5 and it took me a while to figure it out. But I think I got it. Now I just have to figure out the right amount of the effect to use.

Wonderfully done. Hee - for a second I thought I was on tackylady's site! I have Elements 5.0, too - would you mind posting (or messaging me) on how you do it?

The last "straight" shot is superb - wonderfully composed and brilliant colors.

Thanks all. It is a fun effect. I've been going thru my photos trying to figure out what it works on and what it doesn't. I'll post more of the experiments this week. New stuff is a blast, eh?

oh, i like these. a lot. sometimes subtlety needs to be kicked to the side.

the effect complements the book titles in number three wonderfully.
